1. Who We Are

Reel Decoder is operated by Aura Bionics Inc., a corporation registered in Ontario, Canada. Aura Bionics Inc. serves as the data controller under GDPR, UK GDPR, and equivalent privacy laws where applicable.

2. Information We Collect

Stored on your device:

A random app user ID generated on first launch
App settings, including your selected niche and content goal
Notification preferences, if notifications are enabled
Lifetime free decode and script credit counters
Local references or cached references to your decode history

Sent to our servers when you tap “Decode”:

The public short-form video URL you submit
Your selected niche profile, such as real estate, fitness, beauty, coaching, food, or education
Your selected content goal, such as leads, followers, or authority
Your random app user ID
Decode timestamps and usage status

Sent to our servers when you tap “Turn into my script”:

The selected decode, remix idea, or breakdown used to generate the script
Your selected niche and content goal
Your random app user ID

Stored on our servers:

Decoded breakdowns, including hook line, beat structure, Predicted Attention Curve, Remix Ideas, and generated scripts
Decode timestamps and the public URL you submitted
Usage counters needed to enforce free credits and Pro subscription limits
Subscription entitlement status verified through the Apple App Store

Sample Decode:

The “Try Sample Decode” demo uses sample content and does not require you to submit a video URL.
Sample decodes and sample scripts do not consume free decode or script credits.
Sample decodes are not saved to your normal decode history.

Deleted from our own systems after processing:

Extracted source video audio
Raw transcript, once the breakdown has been generated, unless temporarily needed for debugging, security, or abuse prevention

AI service providers:

Our AI service providers may temporarily process and retain API inputs and outputs according to their own API data retention, abuse-monitoring, and security policies.

Subscriptions:

Subscription purchases, renewals, refunds, and entitlement status are processed entirely by Apple through your Apple ID. Reel Decoder receives only the subscription status and transaction information required to unlock Pro features on your device. We do not use a third-party subscription processor.

Diagnostics and analytics:

We may receive anonymous or pseudonymous app analytics and crash reports through Apple system reporting and other service providers used to operate the app.

Support:

If you contact support, we collect your email address and message content only to respond to your request.

3. What We Do Not Collect

Reel Decoder does not collect:

Your name, unless you voluntarily provide it in a support request
Your phone number
Your contacts
Your TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, or other social account credentials
Your email address, except when you voluntarily contact support
Precise location data
Advertising identifiers for cross-app tracking
Biometric data
Your private browsing history
Data from other apps unless you choose to share a link into Reel Decoder

4. How Data Is Used

We use data to:

Analyze the public video URL you submit
Generate AI-powered breakdowns, remix ideas, and scripts
Display and save your decode history in the app
Enforce lifetime free credits and Pro subscription limits
Manage App Store subscriptions and entitlements
Diagnose crashes, fix bugs, and prevent abuse
Respond to support requests
Improve reliability, performance, and product quality

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not use your data for third-party advertising, cross-app tracking, resale, or ad profiling.

We share data only with service providers needed to operate Reel Decoder, process subscriptions, provide AI analysis, store history, fix bugs, respond to support requests, or comply with legal obligations.

5. Permissions Reel Decoder Uses

Network communications:

Reel Decoder uses network access to send submitted URLs to our analysis pipeline, fetch results, sync decode history, and verify subscriptions.

iOS Share Extension:

If you use the iOS share sheet, Reel Decoder receives only the link or text you choose to share into the app.

Notifications:

Notifications are optional. If enabled, they may be used for product updates, usage reminders, or app-related messages. You can disable notifications anytime in iOS Settings.

You can revoke applicable permissions anytime in iOS Settings.

6. Your Responsibilities When Using Reel Decoder

Submit only public video URLs that you have a legitimate interest in studying.

Do not submit private, restricted, or unauthorized videos.

Reel Decoder produces AI-generated creative interpretations of public content. Outputs are for inspiration, education, and content planning. They are not factual claims about the original creator’s intent, performance data, or actual viewer retention.

The Predicted Attention Curve is an AI-generated estimate, not actual platform analytics.

Do not use Reel Decoder to harass, impersonate, mislead, or target the original creators of analyzed content.

Do not use Reel Decoder to copy another creator’s work in a way that violates copyright, platform rules, or applicable law.

You are responsible for complying with applicable copyright laws, publicity rights, privacy rights, and platform terms when adapting ideas for your own content.

7. Sub-Processors

We use the following service providers to operate Reel Decoder:

We do not sell, rent, or share your information for advertising. We may share information if required by law, court order, or valid legal process.

8. International Data Transfers

Aura Bionics Inc. is based in Canada. Some of our service providers are based in the United States or operate global infrastructure.

For users in the EU/EEA, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, international transfers are safeguarded using appropriate legal mechanisms, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards where required by law.

9. Legal Basis for Processing

For users in regions where GDPR, UK GDPR, or similar laws apply, we process data based on the following legal bases:

Performance of contract: To provide the decode, remix, script, history, and subscription services you request.

Legitimate interests: To operate the app, fix bugs, prevent abuse, secure our systems, improve reliability, and understand product usage.

Consent: For optional notifications and any other feature that requires consent.

Legal obligations: To comply with applicable tax, accounting, App Store, or legal requirements.

10. Data Retention

11. Age Requirements

Reel Decoder is rated 17+ on the App Store and is intended for adults and older teens who create content.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.

If you believe someone under 13 has used Reel Decoder and submitted personal information, contact us at info@aurabionics.com and we will take appropriate action.

12. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

Access data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your data
Object to or restrict certain processing
Request data portability
Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

You can review your decode history in the app.

You can delete individual decodes in the app where this feature is available.

You can request full deletion by emailing info@aurabionics.com.

Because Reel Decoder does not require an email/password account, we may ask for your in-app user ID, purchase details, or other information needed to locate your data.

We aim to respond to deletion and privacy requests within 30 days.

Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID settings. Deleting app data does not automatically cancel an active App Store subscription.

13. EU, UK, and California Users

Residents of the EU/EEA, United Kingdom, and California may have additional privacy rights, including:

Right to access
Right to rectification
Right to erasure
Right to restrict or object to processing
Right to data portability
Right to non-discrimination for exercising privacy rights
Right to lodge complaints with local data protection authorities

We do not sell personal information.

We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act.

14. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your data.

Security measures include:

HTTPS/TLS encryption for network requests
Server-side storage of provider API keys, not in the app
Access controls for backend systems and storage
Security controls provided by our infrastructure providers
Random app user IDs instead of an email/password user database

Local app identifiers or tokens may be stored using iOS security mechanisms where appropriate.

No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we discover a security issue that affects your data, we will take appropriate steps consistent with applicable law.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

When we make changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date above.

If changes are significant, we may notify users in the app or through another appropriate method before the changes take effect.
